isportsweb.comAfter a stunning week 1 win against the Detroit Lions, the San Diego Chargers will travel to Cincinnati to face one of the best teams in the AFC conference. Trailing 21-3 in the 1st quarter, Philip Rivers and the Chargers went on a 30-0 run to stage the biggest comeback in Chargers history, finishing the game on top with a score of 33-28. Voted the best wide receiver of week 1, Keenan Allen caught 15 balls for 166 yards, surpassing Chargers great Kellen Winslow in catches in a game. The Chargers defense also played well, holding NFL star Calvin Johnson to 1 catch while intercepting Matt Stafford twice during the game.

As for the Chargers rookies, linebacker Kyle Emmanuel showed off his pass rushing skills, pressuring Stafford on a number of plays while claiming a sack and an interception in the process. Melvin Gordon also showcased his explosiveness, making a number of athletic plays and catches. While the Chargers hope that Gordon can still improve his downhill running style, Gordon played well for his first NFL game.

As for Injuries, the Chargers have a few holes to fill this week as starting Right guard D.J Fluker and starting Safety Jahleel Addae are listed as “out” for the upcoming game against the Bengals. While both players will miss the next couple of weeks, the team is thankful that both starters will make quick and speedy recoveries. For the team’s week 2 game, the Bolts will rely on Jimmy Wilson to man the starting safety job while backup Chris Hairston will get the start at right guard.
