Just because the San Diego Chargers are going into a bye week doesn’t mean that your fantasy football team is. There are no bye weeks in fantasy and as the NFL season enters week 8 it is time to reflect on how the Chargers are doing in terms of fantasy value. While none of the players will be active this week, there is an opportunity present to pick up some valuable players for the second half of the season.
Philip Rivers (Reuters)
Philip Rivers
No quarterback has had a complete turn around quite like Rivers this season. He ranks 3rd in the NFL for quarterbacks this season with 134 fantasy points up to now. His numbers may dip as the strength of the Charger schedule increases in the second half of the year, but he will remain a consistent quarterback nonetheless.

Ryan Mathews
Although he still hasn’t put up the numbers the Chargers ultimately had hoped for, Mathews has had a few decent games for the Bolts this season. He is quite inconsistent, but due to the lack of dominant rushing in the NFL this season, he remains relevant.

Danny Woodhead
Woodhead’s emergence into the Chargers offense was unforeseen by many experts this season. He has provided Rivers a safety option and has been utilized consistently this year. In PPR leagues, Woodhead is a must have if not already owned in the league.

Keenan Allen
The rookie wide receiver Allen has quickly become Rivers favorite target this season. His recent production should have led to him being picked up in most leagues, but if he’s available still, pick him up before its too late.

Eddie Royal
Even though Royal started out the year with amazing numbers, he has since then settled down. Royal is very inconsistent, normally having games with a reception or two and the occasional huge game. Don’t pick him up, but keep him around until a better option becomes available.

Antonio Gates
Once again, Gates has proven himself to be one of the better tight ends in the NFL. He ranks 5th of all tight ends and even though he is aging, he still possesses more talent than a lot of the other tight ends in the NFL.

Nick Novak
Although kickers are really hard to predict for fantasy, Novak has been putting up decent numbers throughout this season. He isn’t a reason to change your whole team around, but if your current kicker has been disappointing then consider Novak as a replacement.
